The Basics of Las Vegas

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

There are a few things that you should know before planning a trip to Las Vegas. These are the things that you should remember before everything else. The last thing you want is to come to Vegas only to realize that you forgot something at home. Let’s get started with the first basic rule when coming to the hottest vacation destination in the world, bring some comfortable walking shoes. This should be a MUST for anyone coming to the strip. Chances are that you will end up spending a lot of time walking on the strip (and probably standing in lines as well) and nothing is worse than having blisters on your feet that will impair your ability to have fun in Vegas.

The second basic rule is to remember is to pack clothing that will fit the weather during your stay in Las Vegas. The weather here can be fairly predictable. Between the months of May and August, the weather is usually HOT - especially in June and July where you can expect temperatures above 110 degrees Fahrenheit or 43 degrees Celsius. Between the months of October and April you can expect colder days and even colder nights. Remember to check the weather a week prior to your trip.

The third basic rule is to try to avoid the busy holiday seasons when planning your trip to Las Vegas - if you can. This is one of the busiest places in the nation around holidays. If you are coming to Las Vegas during a holiday remember that you will typically pay higher prices for your airfare, hotel, and car rental. Don’t forget that there WILL be large crowds. If you must come to Las Vegas during a holiday, make your reservations ahead of time to ensure that you will have the best availability to the all of the accommodations that you will need.

There are other basics you should remember as well. Remember that Las Vegas is in the desert. So remember that you will need to drink plenty of water. Margaritas and Beers cannot provide the necessary water intake that you need. Nevada has a very dry climate when compared to where many people live and it is very easy for the dryness here to take advantage of you.

If your purpose in coming to Las Vegas is to golf, then you should come prepared. Las Vegas has some of the nations most beautiful and lavish golf courses. You should bring your best clubs along with you - though you can rent clubs at the golf course if you decide not to bring your clubs. When speaking of things to do in Las Vegas, you should bring some dress clothes with you if you decide to go to one of the incredible Las Vegas shows - which you MUST do. You will not be disappointed with the shows that Las Vegas has to offer you.

Las Vegas is recognized for attracting the big spenders but it should be known that it is very possible to spend economically and have a great vacation for two that would cost $100 per day. However, on the other hand a big spender can spend thousands on ONE meal. When it comes to nice restaurants, make sure you look for the menu outside of the restaurant before you enter so that you can gauge the affordability of the restaurant if you are on a budget.

If you plan on visiting any of the destinations around Las Vegas like Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon, it would be a good idea to either drive your own car (if you’re close enough) or rent a car. It is easy to be fooled by the distances of these destinations that surround Las Vegas. Not too mention that it is easy to loose your sense of time when you are having fun in the casinos.

Las Vegas is also one of the biggest places in the nation to have a wedding. Las Vegas is almost as famous for weddings as it is for gambling. More than 130,000 couples apply for a marriage license each year in Las Vegas. There are no traditions for a Las Vegas wedding. You can go as informal as you wish. You can have Elvis preside over your wedding. You can even do a drive-thru wedding if you’re strapped for time.

The last basic rule is to live the Las Vegas motto while you’re here: “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.” So don’t be afraid to let go and have a good time. Just don’t do anything to attract the police and you will have an incredible time that you will remember forever.

Get Swept Away in a Jaguar XK120 Sports Car Rental

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

One of the available cars that can be rented is the 1952 Jaguar XK120. The Jaguar XK120 came out as one of the fastest standard production car. This vehicle runs at an impressive 120 mph or 193 km/h and even faster if the windscreen was removed.

Jaguar Cars Limited, the creators of the Jaguar XK120 is a luxury car manufacturer that is based on Coventry, England. It was founded in 1922 in Blackpool and was named as the Swallow Sidecar Company by two motorcycle enthusiasts, William Walmsley and William Lyons. In 1934 it changes its name to SS Cars Ltd in Coventry. The first time the SS Jaguar name first came out was on the 2.5 liter saloon in 1935. Then due to the lack of popularity of the SS from WWII, it was dropped in 1945 and became Jaguar Cars Ltd.

Throughout its history, the Jaguar passed through a series of ownership changes. In 1966 it merged with British Motor Corporation and the Austin-Morris to form British Motor Holdings. In 1968 it again merged with Leyland and became British Leyland Motor Corporation. In 1975 it became British Leyland Ltd.

And in 1984 it became a separate company on the stock market. Then it was purchased by Ford Motor Company in September 1989. And just recently on June 2 2008 Tata Motors of India bought the Jaguar from Ford Motor Company.

The 1952 Jaguar XK120 was a sports car manufactured between 1948 and 1954. It succeeded the SS 100 which ended its production after the start of World Wad II. It was launched at the 1948 London Motor Show as a test bed vehicle to highlight the new Jaguar XK engine. But the car became such a sensation that William Lyons was persuaded to put it into production as a standard model.

The first cars that were manufactured had hand built aluminum bodies on an ash frame. Its famous engine was the XK engine which had dual overhead cam 3.4 L straight-6 engine. The XK120 was available as a coupe, convertible, or an original roadster.

In January 1954, the XK120 coupe won the first 24 hour race held in Australia. In June 1954 a XK120 FHC won the first import win in NASCAR’s first road race at Linden Airport New Jersey. In 1949 a publication called The Motor Magazine recorded an OTS roadster having a top speed of 124.6 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 10.0 seconds.

The Jaguar XK 120 is one of the historic and fastest car model from Jaguar Cars Ltd. It is a sports car and a luxury car in one, and that with a classic flair to it. But whatever you may call it, you can rent it at one of the rental cars in town. Other sports, exotic, luxury, and classic car models are also available. Just access our websites and there you can find more information and other services. These one of a kind babies await you to take them on the Strip.

Tips on Renting a Car in Maui

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Are you taking a vacation to Maui? Maui is a beautiful island with year around nice weather and activities to keep you busy. You’ll surely enjoy the beautiful beaches and majestic mountains on this Hawaiian island more if you are able to drive around the island. Consider renting a car so you can explore Maui. Other than tour busses, Maui has limited transportation options and taxis are expensive. You’ll be able to come and go as you please and visit areas that are unreachable by other forms of transportation. Here are some tips to renting a car in Maui.

Unique Rental Business

Renting a car in Maui is different than mainland car rental in the mainland. Since it’s an island there are not usually one way rentals which mean a different drop off and pick up location. Recently, a ferry service began operation between Maui and Oahu but the rental company may not allow you to bring your car to other islands. For this reason you’ll be picking up and dropping off your car at the same location.

In addition, since Maui is small in comparison to other large cities on the mainland there are fewer car rental companies to choose from. The major car rental chains have offices, such as Hertz, Alamo and Avis but there aren’t smaller independent companies. This means that you’ll probably be paying more for a rental on Maui than in most other locations. Don’t let this discourage you from renting a car though since driving around the island is a “must”.

Another factor that makes Maui different for rental cars is the limited availability and variety of vehicles. There are the basic vehicles to choose from but if you’ll be traveling in peek season and you need to have a certain kind of vehicle you’ll need to plan ahead. For example, if you’ll be traveling with your family or have large pieces of luggage such as golf clubs then you’ll probably need a full size car, minivan or SUV.

To ensure you get the car that you need and the lowest rate, it’s best to book early. Don’t wait until the last minute or you may be stuck with a rental that’s too large or too small and out of your budget. If possible, try to prepay for at least one day of your rental. This will help guarantee your rental and some agencies give you a discount if you prepay.

To find a car rental in Maui, search online using a travel website such as Travelocity or Orbitz. You can specify the dates you wish to rent and the site will display available rates and models from various car rental agencies.

Jack Blacksmith regularly produces online reports on issues dealing with car hire at malaga airport. With his writings on rental cars at malaga airport the columnist expressed his capability in the field.

Car Rental Companies

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Automobiles are key to the transportation of people throughout the world. They also cause congestion problems on the roadways and can be dangerous if not driven properly. Automobiles must be taken care of; serviced when needed and should always have enough full in the tank in the event of inclement weather. People need automobiles wherever they go. So, when people travel across country it is helpful to be able to use a car, even if it isn’t their own. That is where car rental companies come into play. The car rental industry is a booming one within the United States and continues to grow as business travel grows.

Car rental companies can be found all across the country, easily in every major city, and sometimes even in the smallest of towns. Renting cars is a lucrative business. Car rentals are needed for travel involved with vacation or business and car rentals are needed when one puts their car in the shop and needs a rental to go about their business without missing a beat. There are a handful of car rental companies across the country that are nationwide companies and there are companies that operate only in certain areas.

There are four well known nationwide car rental companies. There are Hertz, Avis, Enterprise and Budget. Budget is more so known for its moving van and moving truck rentals than its car rentals. The most known moving truck rental company is U-Haul. U-Haul is the orange colored truck used by most people moving cross country or even just down the street to a new house. Their prices are reasonable and they also sell boxes and packing materials. U-Haul offices are a one stop shop for moving needs.

Cars can be rented for one day or for as much as a handful of weeks. Most car rental companies offer online reservations on their websites or reservations can also be made via phone. Most car companies charge a daily fee between $18-$25 for renting their vehicles. The prices vary depending on the make and model of the vehicle too. For example, renting a minivan will cost more per day than renting a compact or economy car.

Most car companies, like Hertz and Enterprise, have certain rules and regulations when it comes to how old a driver must be when renting a car. One of the most popular and known rules among car rental companies is that the driver of the rented vehicle must be 25 years or older. This has become an unpopular rule amongst drivers because states administer driver’s licenses to drivers who pass the test at ages as young as 16. Many people argue that since they already have a driver’s license they should be allowed to drive a rental car even though they are not 25 years old.

Car rental companies are usually located in large, bustling cities near an airport or even in the parking lot of an airport. They are also located across the country in small towns wherever cars are needed.

Enjoying Lake Tahoe One Shore At A Time

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places in North America to visit. Located in between California and Nevada, the lake has been dubbed the jewel in the sky and for good reason. When visiting Lake Tahoe you will realize that it is nested up in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, sitting at an elevation of 6,225 feet and having a maximum depth of over 1,645 feet at some points, the shore lines are incredible and very diverse. After reading this, you will be a little more familiar with the characteristics of Lake Tahoe.

The north shore of Lake Tahoe is probably the most neglected. Kings Beach is a little town that brings the most character to the North Shore. If you look hard enough or just ask a few locals, you will discover the best Mexican restaurants in the area tucked away in the side streets. Tahoe City is by far the most popular city in the North Shore, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, especially during the fourth of July and the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Here you will find your common tourist shops selling anything and everything with the name Lake Tahoe on it. A popular place for tourists to gather is the Fanny Bridge, which leads to the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Here you can look over and see hundreds of trout eagerly waiting to be fed.

Once you cross over the Fanny Bridge, you will be on your way to the west shore of Lake Tahoe. The west shore is where you will find some of the biggest houses around, many owned by popular celebrities. If you have seen The Godfather Part Two you would have seen bits and pieces of west shore Lake Tahoe, a lot of the filming was done over there. As you make your way south you will eventually run into a part of the shoreline properly named The Gold Coast. This piece of shoreline is a number one contender for the most beautiful beach on earth. The coast is decorated with a flowing display of gold sand that would make any king envious. Unfortunately, most of the gold coast sands are private property and not shared by some of the richest of the area. Don’t worry though because a quick drive south will take you to one of Lake Tahoe’s most popular features, Emerald Bay, home of the only island in the lake, Fannette Island. Located on Fannette Island is the “Tea House” which is of the best examples of Scandinavian architecture built in the western hemisphere. The west shore of Lake Tahoe is very beautiful in the spring, summer and fall but beware of the tremendous amounts of snow during the winter. This shore is typically hit the hardest and due to the fact that there is only one road out you may just happen to find yourself stuck and snowed in. Which may not be so bad if you have a pair of skies with you or a snowboard? So if and when you plan a visit to Lake Tahoe, don’t forget to visit the north and west shores.

Zanzibar - Swimming With Dolphins at Kizimkazi

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Hi all! How is life treating you? I truly hope you’re having a fabulous day. Today I’m going to write about one of my “dream come true” experiences: swimming with dolphins! I know for some of you this is something special you have always dreamt of! Well guess what…you can do it right away! What are you waiting for? Got your mask, snorkel and flippers…ready for an unforgettable swim?

The destination I’m taking you to today is one of the most well-known islands in the world: heavenly Zanzibar! Zanzibar is famous for its ancient slave trade, its endless beaches and turquoise sea, its spices and exquisite fresh fruits, its unique coral reefs, AND…its dolphins!

Kizimkazi, in the far south of the island, is one of the best places to view and swim with these amazing creatures!

There are two main species of dolphins that live in the area: bottlenose dolphins (most common), and the Indo-Pacific humpback species.

When to Go

Zanzibar is accessible all year round, and Kizimkazi trips can be planned on a yearly basis. Notice however that dolphin sightings are NOT GUARANTEED (although highly probable). My recommendation is to choose the dry season (rather than rainy months) when planning your trip. Weather conditions are more suitable, the sea is calmer (fewer waves), which ultimately makes the experience more enjoyable!

My Experience

I’ve had the chance to visit Zanzibar on various occasions, and Kizimkazi has always been one of the highlights of my stay! Swimming with dolphins is “unique”, and incredibly exciting! It’s an amazing feeling to be able to experience their world for just a few minutes, to swim with them side by side, to feel their presence right underneath you…

It also demands a lot of efforts, as dolphins are always on the move. Be ready to jump on and off the boat quite often!

I’ve tried to touch them more than once, but never accomplished the task…they are so quick and agile…absolutely INCREDIBLE creatures!

Volcano, Amador County - A California Gold Rush Town

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

The little town Volcano sits quietly among the hills in Amador County, California. When the weather is nice, tourists flock to the old town and several popular attractions are nearby. One of the best known of these is Daffodil Hill, an old farm planted densely with daffodils of many types. For some weeks each spring the place erupts with riots of color and bloom, and tourists come to picnic among the pines and the flowers. Quiet little Volcano was not always as it is now, it once roared with the activity of thousands of miners digging for gold.

For untold ages the Indian around the site of Volcano had gathered acorns and pine-nuts, and captured the deer and other game with which the hills abounded. But when gold was found in the Sierra Nevada foothills, men rushed to California to get their share of the wealth. When the miners arrived in the Volcano area, gold was discovered in the hills, gold on the flats, in the gulches, everywhere; gold that opens the roads to influence, power, and happiness. The grassy plains were torn up, the rich soil sluiced through the canyon, and all that behind was left is unsightly piles of rock, holes of mud and stagnant water. The hills, robbed of their graceful pines, were furrowed into deep gullies, while the clear, limpid waters of the creek were turned from their channel and carried into the surrounding hills, carrying mud, sand, and gravel, down to the farms in the valley below.

Such were the hills around Volcano. Much of the mining was in Soldiers’ gulch, the dirt being carried to the creek for washing. A number of men made hand-barrows, on which they carried the dirt. Finally a cart was rigged up, and, with a yoke of cattle to draw it, readily rented for eight dollars per day. The Indians worked for gold in Indian gulch, hence its name. During the first winter, portions of the Volcano graveyard were found to be rich in gold, and the gulches were worked much deeper. It now began to be suspected, or rather learned, that the deposits of gold around Volcano were enormously large, and that they extended to great depths. The Illinois party, Green & Co., went to work on the ground staked off. The surface was a reddish clay, evidently a wash from the hill to the west. About eight feet from the surface they came to the gravel, which was so rich that they could pick out gold with the fingers. They carried the dirt to the creek, some two hundred yards away, in buckets, and washed it in a rocker. They made about a hundred dollars a day to the man, some of which was coarse gold, one piece being worth over nine hundred dollars (over 45 ounces). Henry Jones, L. McLaine, Fred Wallace, Dr. M. K. Boucher, Doctor Yeager, Ike West, Thomas, Ellec Hayes, and others, had claims in Soldiers’ gulch that were enormously rich. A cart load of dirt would have two hundred and fifty dollars of gold in it. Sometimes a pan of dirt would contain five hundred dollars. Men who never in their lives had a hundred dollars, would make a thousand dollars a day. A company of Texans would make a hundred dollars each in a day, and gamble it away every night, and come to their claim in the morning broke. This was their way of having a good time, and gambling saloons came in for a large share of the profits. Clapboard gulch also paid good wages to the gold miners; though not so rich as Soldiers’ gulch, the pay-dirt was easier washed and near the surface. Indian gulch was also found to be rich, especially at the head. The Welch claim had a mound of dirt a few feet across that had more than a hundred thousand dollars in it. Some of the gold was found in a tough clay that defied washing by any ordinary method. Boiling was found to disintegrate the clay, and boilers were erected in many places to steam it so that it would come to pieces. It was observed that when left in the sun to dry hard, the clay would fall to pieces, and drying yards were established where the rich gold bearing dirt was dried and pounded.

For several decades the miners toiled, taking out their gold en treasure, but eventually the rich deposits played out, and the miners left. The grass and the trees slowly began to reclaim their territory. Now, a century after the miners left, you can see only a few spots where the miner’s holes are exposed, and their piles of rock left behind. Most of the original, natural beauty of the area has been restored. So this spring, come and check out the beauty and rich gold rush history of old Volcano, California, and the beautiful flowers at Daffodil Hill.

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Are you ready to get fast and furious? Come on and let’s get ready for the ride! The Chevrolet Chevelle SS gained fame as one of the cars that raced and zoomed past the screens in the 2001 car film, “The Fast and The Furious.” A staple addition to on-screen rides, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS is also featured in a lot of movies such as Bad Boys 2, War, Speed Demon, and Remember the Titans.

Being featured in a lot of Hollywood movies has gotten the interest of a lot of car lovers for the Chevrolet Chevelle SS. The history of this classic car, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, dates back to 1964-65. At this time, this classic car was introduced as Chevrolet’s entry into the mid-size muscle car battle. Its rivals included General Motors’ Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, Pontiac Tempest GTO, and the Buick Skylark Gran Sport. Muscle cars were never really regarded as sports cars because they were larger and cheaper. These were the rides that were made for the streets and that racing was not only its nature. Muscle cars then were defined as fast small cars that had big engines. Muscle cars were built for street-line speed and does not have the lithe appearance, engineering integrity and sophisticated chassis present in European high performance cars.

The Chevrolet Chevelle at the beginning only had 327 V8 and the 396 V8 for its engines but it then had the most powerful rated engine among muscle cars when it sported the LS6 454 engine in 1970. It is one of the fastest being rated number 9 at Muscle cars list of the fastest muscle cars.

With all this in mind, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a celebrity in itself.
